COVID19 Poem: All for One, One for All.

Writer's picture: Sherlyn TayagSherlyn Tayag

A poem I created during this pandemic COVID 19.

Who would have known? As another year shown; Happy new year! I shouted. Year 2020, please be good to me! I posted.

In the earth we're living, A lot of things are happening; Our country, started with a bang, When Taal Volcano blasts its fangs.

It still didn't stop there, News coming from almost everywhere; That's in a certain place called Wuhan A virus has been harming almost everyone.

March 16, 2020, when government first announced, They've imposed a lockdown in every place, it felt as trounce; An enhanced community quarantine to be in-placed, Staying home to save lives, is something we need to brace.

Who would have thought? That through air it can be caught; Closing of malls, travel bans and other precautionary measures, As it is becoming deadly, no cure only countermeasures.

Don't go out, stay home, Don't you dare roam; Wash your hands, wear mask it's a must, Cause you might end up crying for disgust.

Some people were stranded, To their place, when quarantine has started; Not allowed to go home they said, Cause you might put someone in a coffin or ICU bed instead.

Who would have thought that this epidemic? W.H.O said that it is now a pandemic; COVID-19 is the name as it started in 2019 again, Like ebola, influenza, and other life taker viruses way back then.

Who is ready for this unease? When W.H.O still looking for a vaccine to battle this disease? To live, is to earn outside for some, But how can we survive, if going outside is where we abstain from.

Follow the rules to save lives, Soldiers, police, doctors and nurses they also strive They're trying to keep us safe and let them be the frontliners, Battling something can't be seen without timers.

Our question is, how can we survive this? Theirs is, stay home to save lives as this virus is in abyss; But how can we stay safe when we don't have anything to eat. When we can't work and we have more mouths to feed.

Clearly, it has taken our hours, But choices is not ours; To stop the virus at all costs, Means to stop it from spreading and exhaust.

Who would have thought to stop the chase, Avoid breathing air in a crowded place; The danger there is to inhale and exhale, Because this virus has no bail to fail.

Who would have thought that this genome, Will require us stay just at home, You are saving lives and won't be affected, As you might be a carrier or the one that can be infected.

Who would have thought that from pandemic archives, Staying two meters apart can save lives, By washing hands and wearing face masks attentively, Sanitizers and alcohol is now a necessity.

To do things in life that is free, To go to the place where and whenever you want to be, Now that is even being restricted, Because of the virus, our actions remain constricted.

This virus has taught me, be grateful on everything, Being able to go to work or anywhere or anything, Can touch hands; breath without facemasks is no sorry, Be outside even in crowded places without any worry.

For now, let us all follow what is must, Wash hands, wear facemask and stay two meters apart can be unjust, As we are all hoping for one thing to ascend, To have this pandemic covid-19 to come to an end.

All for one! One for all!
